A Touchstone Long-Term Experience
You step out of the elevator directly into The LA Experience’s anchor exhibition City of Dreams - a celebration of LA as the global capital of dreamers, innovators, rulebreakers, and rebels.
This modular experience is a series of individual “Dreams” - immersive “short stories” that celebrate cultural trends and movements that emanated from LA, and the individual dreamers that brought them to life. Throughout, you are constantly provided opportunities to add your own stories, inspirations, and California dreams to the mix.
Creatively, each dream bleeds into the next, evoking both “dream logic” and the language of “dreams” that LA exported to the world - the crossfades, wipes, irises, and match cuts of cinema, made real and dimensional within the flow of an immersive experience.
One of the strengths of this narrative framework is that the individual experiences and artworks within can grow and change from month to month or hour to hour as they respond to guests' interactions and interests. The following represent initial inspiration for the types of narratives and experiences this exhibition can contain.

Rotating Experience #3
This playful, physical experience brings the greatest basketball team in history to life by allowing you to step inside the shoes of the all-time Laker greats - mastering Kareem’s skyhook on a digitally enabled LED goal, squaring off with a Larry Bird hologram in the paint while Magic gives you pointers, measuring your wingspan and foot speed against the greatest to ever play the game.
It takes you to some of the most momentous moments in basketball history, recreating them at life scale, from bringing you courtside at the Fabulous Forum for one of the many championship runs to putting you on the medal stand with Magic and the Dream Team in Barcelona ‘92.
Finally, the experience focuses on the tremendous legacy of this unique group - how Magic rewrote the book on Black celebrity and entrepreneurship, how Kareem fostered generational change with his activism and spirituality, how Dr. Jerry and Jeanie Buss redefined the ownership model and guest experience for professional sports worldwide, and how legacy lived on in Kobe, Lebron, and future undiscovered generations of Lakers legends.
You leave with a new appreciation and love for these icons, and perhaps a bit of appreciation for your own abilities and all the incredible things your body can do.
