The Turntable

1953 Turntable on Taylor Yard

Today, this round concrete pit awaits its new repurposing.

In this former railroad yard, the remaining signature feature is a sunken round space once used at a turntable to turn locomotives in the opposite direction. In the park-to-be, this historical relic will be reimagined as outdoor space for small community events, performances and ceremonies. Next to the Turntable will be an elevated sloping lawn, the Sunset Meadow, for enjoying both the performances and the nearby rivers edge vistas.

In 1953 this turntable was in active use, allowing locomotives to change to different tracks and storage sheds.
